Taphophile Tragics

It make you always humble when you visit one of the many graveyards from WW II in Europe .
Here a part of the American graveyard at Omaha beach Normandie.
Only to look at it makes me sad again.

  3. Yes, it is sobering, isn't it. The manner of their dying. The age at which they died.

All this is emphasised by the layout of war cemeteries. Simple white crosses laid out in patterns. And in such number. All with immaculation presentation.

Humble. And grateful. And sad. And yet, we will go down that path again, against another monster.

It is one of my dreams to tour over the Western Front. I know this is Omaha Beach. But for Australians, it was towns along the Western Front where we suffered our biggest losses during WW2.

Thank you for your continued support of Taphophile Tragics. It means much to me.

  8. wow. Makes you think a bit.
The carvings too make the names disappear. I thought these were unnamed graves, but fortunately, that's not the case.
It is sad to think all these were probably young men.
